Fitness, Self-Defense and Concentration for Everyone
You are a short drive from the most qualified instructors anywhere in Ohio.
No matter what your age or physical condition there is a place for you in our dojo. You will learn the most advanced Martial Arts in an atmosphere of cooperation. You will also learn to focus and discipline your mind as adults learn to focus through meditation as an integral part of our study.
Good Martial Arts; when taught well - should provide for you:
- An increase in Fitness (both cardio and strengthening)
- Improved Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem
- Increased concentration
- Improvements in eye hand coordination
- Stress relief (and the ability to calm the mind)
- Increased energy and vitality
- The certainty that you can defend your yourself (or your loved ones)
Our approach to teaching is really a "no-nonsense" one. We believe that in the Martial Arts world there are really two approaches to local dojo's; and BOTH of these approaches lack an important aspect of the arts.
1st: There are the competitive schools that teach valid technique; but often neglect the internal aspects of the art that are best represented through etiquette, meditation and cooperation.
2nd: Other dojo's emphasize rank promotions, - but have dubious at best standards. These schools cater mostly to children. The problem in these organizations is, that while everyone is constantly talking about self control and self discipline - you rarely actually see it. (If you give a Black Belt to an 11 year old it's probably a good indication that you've lowered your standards!)
We believe there is a third choice: We have blended the idea of Authenticity (High standards and skills) by simply teaching real martial arts in a way that is in direct alignment with founders of the arts. We hold everyone to an equal and high standard; yet we also believe in courtesy, kindness, and teamwork.
