Tournaments

Our tournaments are designed to be fun, spirited, and teach the value of working towards a goal and teamwork. We host our tournaments four times a year, generally on first Saturday of the last month of each quarter. (unless otherwise posted - you can check our calendar for the most accurate information).

Our tournaments make available two events. Kihon; for judging the technique of our competitors, and Sparring with light contact. See the video below for an example of a sparring match.

Starting in 2011 is our year long Grand Championship series.
Students are awarded points for placing at events and participation as well; at the end of the year the points are totalled and the highest score earns the award of being the Martial Arts Center 2011 Grand Champion! Titles are awarded in each division and for both Kihon and Sparring. (Tigers, Dragons, Teens, Adults)

First Place = 8 points
Second = 6
Third = 4
Participation = 2

At the end of year awards will be given to highest point leaders and the title "2011 Martial Arts Center champion".
